Shooting Jackie
The day began trying to scramble to get myself together for this shoot. I had an interesting night prior (involving lost car keys in Capitol Hill at 12:30a.m.) and was up a bit late. In addition, I was to be shooting along with someone who eventually couldn’t make it, causing a little schedule trepidation. I Ended up calling jackie, she was cool with everything (thank you), and I proceeded downtown to Seattle, having to make my required camera stop shop before hitting the location (called jackie again, she thought she’d be a little late too, so it was all good). jackie got to the spot a little early. :) I had just finished at glazers at the time she called, 10 minutes before the shoot, with 15 minutes to get to where i was going. i actually made it there about 5 minutes late (more on time than i thought–phew). i hadn’t shot her in two years, the first time being just an initial meet-up! of course i recognized her though (we have kept in contact)–she had what she said she was wearing, a dress with flowers on it–but exceeded my expectations–so i was *ready* to shoot!
We got to Alki Beach; there was a huge mist (at 11a.m. no less) on the beach, and in the area–we weren’t sure it was going to work out. By the time i finished fumbling with my equipment–loading film and gathering my polaroid (230 land camera), olympus stylus infinity (35mm), rollei prego 90 (35mm), nikon d90, and iphone–the mist had sufficiently cleared.
Jackie was easy going, poised, and comfortable. we had fun. When we’re having fun, I shoot a lot, and hopefully well. ended up with over 500 digital shots, among all the others. my only regret (as my wife reminded me upon seeing the pics) was that we didn’t do a change of clothing.
i hope that we get another chance to shoot soon.

amped, and starstruck
i’m amped to have been able spend even 25 minutes with Sean, and retroactively starstruck after having met S1. i was too tired to jock. i had 2 of my kids with me even…this was the latest they’ve been able to stay up with me–and they’ve been to their share of shows with me (i love the fact that there even exist shows that i can even take them to!) we didn’t actually get a chance to make it to the show, because i was taking back Sean to the airport, but no matter, i ended up catching up with Christopher, then the rest of ‘em after wards.
so first off, Sean is an old high school friend, and brother in christ, who is a math geek; i realize just how much i’d love to have a really geeky geek in my presence on a more regular basis. we have *such* an understanding. i haven’t seen him since high school, i believe! we may have seen each other *once* after, but i can’t remember at the moment…he’s still got a gleam in his eye, and is just as goofy as i remember.:)
and S1 is (a very very very dope) producer from the strange fruit project and a brother in Christ:)
whom i’ve been a fan of for YEARS and YEARS (check my “Top Artists” :). i have all their albums, and adore S1′s production. He and Braille(a guy whom i marvel at–keep doing what you’re called for man!) are doing a tour for their “Cloud Nineteen” project (which is raw!). everyone was too tired, but were troopers and hung last night for a quick meal before the next show.
I’m happy that the folks did that. When we lived in the midwest, we used to go out after *every* show it seemed. That’s something rare out here, so i cherish each time i’m able to participate, even when i’m tired out of my mind and talking smack. :)
love to you all.
Tonight: Cafe’ Tour in Pioneer Square
DEEP
we finally got some real snow here in the Seattle area! snowed in today, and thankful for still having power. i’ve a gang of projects i hope i can improvise on, given i can’t really make it out of the house!
a perfect day to watch these three videos i rented from the redbox last night, dig around for the proper things i need to get various stuff up on the walls, and put different things together, and away :)
i am a bit concerned however, that things may stay this way come tuesday, when i get to head back to VA to get the wife and kids. I’m praying that it’ll go well for myself, as well as all other holiday travellers, and ask you do too:)
woah
got back from lunch, and folk in my office pointed me to this, going on outside of our window.
