a minor high horse moment: i was a little irritated by so many cameras up in the piece…it’s not as much the cameras i was bothered with than:

1) the excessive flash. 1, maybe 2 are fine, within a 15 minute span (although sometimes that’s pushing it) — but hip hop is grimey, not big time, and too much flash promotes a “big time feel”, and offers a distraction that’s not necessary. we’re out to have a good time, not have seizures.

2) my doubts about the other photogs involvment in the hip hop culture. Now, i absolutely am prejudging many of the cats there :) but my hope is that those wishing to be involved in documenting hip hop be schooled in and have a genuine respect and love for it.
