time to fire up my y! account again. it’s gotten to the point that i haven’t been able to read mail at all.

la symphony et. al after the show by isaidjon
la symphony opened for the alkoholiks last night (sat) at the chop suey. joy and i headed out to hang with flynn and the homies from the symph, and see them perform. eric came out! who knew? dude, it would be nice to kind of hang out a bit from time to time, since you do kind of live in our neck of the woods. anthony was in philly this weekend, so i can’t wait to make sure he knows he missed it :)
it was a crazy show, to say the least. the symph rocked it. two things were upsetting about the event:
1: the length of their set was short (compared to these other opening cats…aside from the first dude, i[ck]on, they blended together ‘cos honestly they sounded like the same cat, as far as beat and rhyme content, so i don’t know)
2: the fact that obese productions did not mention them on their promotional material. if they weren’t honestly already printed or something, and they purposely did it, that was a punk move. even if not, it felt like one (you can easily change internet promo material–but given chop suey’s track record in getting their internet ish together (email debacle anyone?) who knows)
a first for me: i was flashed at the show. yeah, someone pulled up their shirt to show their ample boobage, as a photo op. they first were grabbing they stuff, saying “hey, here you go” (i had my polaroid out) then, before i knew it i had walked in from a scene from Girls Gone Wild! i chose not to take it (although, the other stage photog, who apparently was less a deer in the headlights *did* get it!). i actually felt a bit embarassed for the girl. her dude buddy was actually getting on me for not taking the shot and isht (first off i wouldn’t anyway, second off, MY WIFE WAS STANDING RIGHT BEHIND ME…although she missed it, and i think it would have been kind of interesting to have handed her over the polaroid w/o telling her first what it was!) it reminded me a little of that scene in what was it…Varsity Blues, where homegirl comes out all whip creamed out, and the dude was like “nah it’s not even like that”. this isn’t the first time i’ve been picked on for a photo op, but not in this way. i’m like dang, it’s just a camera! i realized really that a camera and a smile can be a powerful thing…
the symph definitely rocked it well…the liks did their thing too–they’re crazy dudes, and i’m not with most the stuff they tripping about…but no doubt the brothers got some of the fattest beats, and they always rhyme on point…straight party dudes from la. always have been. the only track i know all the lyrics to, they didn’t do though, of course, ‘cos it’s from a soundtrack (Friday). although i did know the chorus at least “tunes hittin hard enough to dent yo trunk…it’s the liks baby! its the liks “:). this would have had to been the first show i’ve seen with an open bar at the dj booth.
there’s this nice little joint next to the chop suey, some business that of course is closed by the end of the night, but the lighting is pretty dope, and ceiling low enough to support a decent bounce. :) so while my actual show pics are awful, these are kinda decent.
thanks so much brother josh, for watching our kids as we got to go out and hang for a little bit with friends. i’ll write about you soon enough ;)
quick update–just found out an old symph track is featured on soul sides as part of him talking about a new prince paul joint of rarities…IMO one of the weakest of the tracks on said album.
well, i snuck in was able to visit the tunnel after it closed, during the beginning phases of construction, and lo and behold, it’s still happening down there…albeit a bit spooky…THERE ARE ACTUALLY GHOSTS AND GHOST TRAINS RUNNING THROUGH THE TUNNEL!!!!!!!!!!!1111111one

There are no more 27 year old left handed guitar players from seattle
if you don’t know then know. pigeon john is a rapper from los angeles, who rapped about his situation in the joint “identity crisis”. the talk about hendrix is reminding me of ‘em.

too too cute outfit by isaidjon
as of 10.04.2005 in seattle washington, this kind of outfit was one of the hotness.
hey! i also added an upcoming event (see below, column 3). we’re having listener at our crib in a few weeks to perform. i’ll be spinning part of the night (well opening), and listener and pal will be doing their thing. it will be a good time, no doubt.
was out to get cold supplies, so already was kinda out of it. didn’t check the flash on/off on the first exposure, and realized it. so i was like “aight need to waste this one” so i shot up at myself.
check out those er, massive pecs.
speaking of always fresh. it’s out. today:
i’ve heard this album, and it is absolutely fresh. And they were able to get that Madlib produced joint back on it! with Murs as a guest. Sounds as fresh as ever. go and get yours
