Photo Friday (late entry): One

glowing hanger and clothes by isaidjon

this has been a grueling week for sure. i can tell it is when my photo friday link is late.

our car died in the city 2 days ago. 4 hours, and about 5 jumps and another battery (the second bought in the week) later, we finally made it home.

it died again yesterday, so it’s off to the dealership this morning to have its alternator looked at.

egh. the only thing i find easy right now is taking pictures.

quick update

copy/pasted from a flickr comment :)

i’m doing well, went back monday to cardiologist, hit the treadmill, and they found nothing.

in fact, i learned that i’d lost 20 lbs since i moved out here, and my blood pressure is at its lowest i’ve seen it in a number of years! (actually the photog could have helped me a bit, as i’m more prone to walk about in search of shots :)

i’m a bit more aware though, of how my heft is affecting me. here’s to deliberately getting my activity on! :)

death doesn’t phase me (i know i’m in Good Hands, and in fact, i been ready to go for a minute now :) — but i got a fam to take care of, fo sho!

great thing about the hospital is the *wonderful* indoor lighting, and nice color. :)

i spent my weekend in the hospital, how bout you? ;)

pitiful jonjust got back.

apparently joy has already written about it though. :)

this is the third time this year that i’ve gone in due to various chest pains (figured i’d actually take advantage of health insurance)

and the third time they’ve done EKGs and everything is just fine.

This is the first time i’ve been in this long, though (overnight). still, nothing. CT scans, x-rays, blood pressure, liver test…

i think they’ve figured the only thing i’ve figured…exercise and eating right would help me avoid these situations…i.e. i too fat :)

so here’s to getting back into the groove of working out.

Please pray for Jon

Jon is in the hospital overnight for observation. He’s had some chest pain that they are trying to diagnose. Everything is coming back normal, but they want to observe him overnight to rule out cardiac problems. He will be seeing a cardiologist in the morning. Please pray that they are able to figure out what is wrong and that he’ll come home tomorrow safe and sound.

EDITED: Jon called this evening; they have fed him (he hadn’t eaten all day really) and are giving him warm blankets. (he was cold with oxygen entering his nose, and in shorts, with no socks) They have decided that he is well enough to see the cardiologist later in the week for the stress test (probably the cardiologist doesn’t want to come in on Sunday:) The official prognosis so far is some medical jibber jabber that means a slight inflamation of the outside of the heart. He will call me in the morning about coming to get him. Hopefully the night will go well for him, and he’ll be able to sleep.

great weekend so far. we went to an exhibit at a store, schmancy, in seattle (1930 2nd ave), and met up with one of joy’s crafty online friends (joy, she picks up these friends, see..:) from southern california. we had a lot of fun with her husband and kids. it looks like we’ll be having more during the weekend!

got some pics up, with more to come. a fun digitalicious photo night. (got some lc-a’s too, but only had a half a 24 roll to shoot!)

an observation about work, if you’re a person with kids (okay, well at least me)

i see why women have special books for “getting ahead” in the workplace. they need some for daddies too.

There’s a certain way of talking you pick up when you’re into your kids, more than work (i notice i have no “work” category).

I don’t know who the woman was, but in retrospect, she’s probably a manager. She had a pretty skirt on, so i said “oh that’s cute”. She took it kindly enough, but from the holistic “vibe” i got, i had realized i had made a minor faux-pax in the professional world. You *don’t* tell a lady her skirt “is cute”.

unfortunately for me, i use cute a Whole Lot. It happens. I have 3 kids. When something is cute it’s cute.

Oh well lesson learned. Think a sec before you speak, and when at work, think very hard about compliments anyway.

two odd things since the move (its the little things)

i had no belt most of last week (i didn’t pay attention when packing), so i creatively wore my outfits to work.

in particular, this saturday and sunday, i saw fit to use a USB cable as a belt. thanks for big shirts.

this morning, i’ve run out of deodorant, so now i smell like my wife. (well they *did* used to say that it’s strong enough for a man).

i’ve since got a belt, but still need to get deodorant.

stank.
