belated blog birthdays

to the homies:

Anthony — happy birthday! and thanks for having us out for your birthday dinner saturday night! it was a gang of fun, man, albeit hella expensive for the delicious sushi…i think joy met her long lost sister there. the banana tempura ice cream dessert made it all worth it. (wasabi bistro on 2nd, y’all :)

TJ! — happy birthday! dude! it always could have been better weather sunday afternoon, but we survived it–the rain brought us all together :D may our families spend several more birthdays together. :) thanks for breaking out The Life Aquatic — i must now own this film–definitely far more aesthetically beautiful, and funnier than i had anticipated. It’s so good to know someone who knows good art. :)

anthony’s on the pier

outisde of anthony’s

i’m apparently going to post in order of the events that happened, in an attempt to catch up on those events. :)

last tuesday we ate at anthony’s at pier 66–the bell town cafe to be exact. anthony’s is upstairs, and is a little more fancy, the bell town cafe is below, and purportedly more “family friendly”. it was, with a large table for a family of 5 and two in-laws, and a lovely view of the Sound.

the food was absolutely *great*, and moderately priced, for the type of food it was (not cheap, but not horridly expensive, like anthony’s bday party saturday ;). i had trout, shrimp cocktail with garlic mash potatoes. i recommend that particular dish :) the salmon was excellent as well.

gorgeous night out, and a few pretty pix of the evening, that i took after the valet brought our vehicle out (and i ran and grabbed the lomo to get a few off — yeah did i mention there’s free valet for restaraunt patrons?)

anthony’s at pier 66 is a good place to bring your seattle visitors, and a good place to eat while you’re here.

Seattle has a grand advantage for outdoor photographers.

gorton’s fisherboy chillen (don’t expect him to smile except in rare circumstances)

i can’t stop looking at this latest batch. it had to have been the overcast/rainy day that let the cameras do their work, letting the lc-a deliver rich hues, and let the D70 deliver the crispness!

i don’t recall doing anything particularly different with the LC-A…fuji 200 film…processed at sams club…i may have had the ASA setting to 100…the only thing i know i’ve been doing different ly is setting the aperture to around 5.6 for closeups, and my “internal rangefinder” has gotten enough practice to guess a good close up distance properly (although i still haven’t figured out anything other than the “0.8″ and the infinity settings yet :)

the digitals were crisp as well. definitely an advantage of seattle — great photo days :)

MARK FARINA NEXT FRIDAY

it has to be providence that i missed my bus this morning.

it meant i had to walk from convention place to the office.

it was a beautiful morning.

it meant i was looking down and all around when i walk (i have my camera with me — you know!)

that meant i spotted a flyer on the ground.

MARK FARINA IS PLAYING NEXT FRIDAY AT THE CHOP SUEY

nearly wet myself on the way to work.

pretty excited about this one.

all hiccups aside, and drainage to our bank account, this is how i feel inside about our house being sold

and to a lesser extent, to flickr making the switch to DHTML from flash. probably their best massage ever.

slow down

i’m trying to slow down, but i have so much catching up to do, as far as uploading my pics to my account–forgive me for the prolificness (ITAW?)

in other news, i’ve been listening to this Sivion prerelease, and it is just blowing me away. it’s been a while since i’ve heard an entire hip hop album that i love to listen to.
