brother in the woods

When it comes to taking pictures, i think i need to stick to the city. i’m not used to being in “nature”, much less taking pictures of it. that being said, i need to make a point to make it out here more, though.

the trip to Rainier National Park was wonderful. we didn’t get going until around 12:30p.m., and it was overcast along the way, then the clouds pushed away (thanks) and made way for the sun to shine through, just about the time we came around the corner of the first lookout point of rainier (at least on our road). joy’s father started flipping (i did too, OK), and we *had* to stop & shoot, in spite of the fact that the ladies reallly had to go.

speaking of going, my boy is recently getting into being potty trained, and apparently felt very free in the woods, as he’d have his pants down nearly every stop for an alleged pee break.

i was quite upset the first 50 pix or so were spent shooting with a lens that had a crazy amount of dust on it. i’m thankful for the D70 “Mirror Lock-Up” mode.

i really enjoyed sharing The Rainier Experience for the first time with everyone (joy & the kids had gone before, but it was so cloudy that they didn’t even see Rainier!)

There was snow on the way up and everything! talk about the heavens declaring His handiwork. It was fun to slosh through the snow in my sandals and socks (way to pick footwear self).

i have a few 35mm holga shots, and some lomo lc-a shots (color & B+W) — i’m hoping for the best.

thanks Yahweh, and thanks fam for the fun. i’m still taking it in.

and big ups to the cat i met out there, jeff, for sharing his business card, and not minding that i was shooting him shooting….D70 fo’ life!

and here’s to the couple i shot get back to me so i can show them how great they came out!

and here’s to 1200 pictures in my photo stream! to a dj, this is a significant number. ;)

Wow. What an amazing place to have not too far from you. Nature is such an amazing way to remember God’s power. I’m so glad he gave it to us. What a gift. God is so amazing.
