Another great weekend
Tonight was fun. Our small group was meeting tonight, but only our family showed up at the Kendals. It ended up being great; getting to talk to the pops for a while, before his wife got home with the kids, as our kids were wreaking havoc in the playroom…as we were chatting we heard two distinct sounds of little pieces of something falling, and we just hollered in to make sure everything was cool, but for the most part ignored it. When we got in the room, there were puzzle pieces everywhere, from a puzzle they had been working on! So we spent the rest of the evening beginning to put together the puzzle. You never realize how much fun you have together putting together puzzles. A refreshing time. We all needed it; and I’m glad we got to hang together.
This morning i broke fool on some guy in our apartment complex, who was having an apparent conflict with (who I found out afterward was) his sister…it was “normal weird” until he charged over to her and popped her in the head…I ended up hollering at the dude to chill, using some choice words, and had to catch myself. In a wierd way I felt i was a little harsh, but in a very real way, I wasn’t going to let this dude beat up on a girl on my clock. If i see the joker again, it’ll be all love…Although we’d have to get that little incident out of the way first.
Saturday was aight–I worked most of the day, but had to stop because of an upgrade in the afternoon (i was crushed ;). Scratch that, it was kinda wacked. I really enjoy what i’m working on, but not being able to decompress is driving me a little nuts. It’ll be over soon, though. I got to DJ again at the Corridor–I wasn’t terribly prepared though. Sandy called about 5:30, asking me if i needed a ride (he is a drummer, & his jazz band were playing there). I had just laid down about 4:30 next to my son to try to catch a catnap before i (thought i) had to leave at 6 (to be there by 6:30). When we got there we were about an hour early. erg. Oh well…
It was a pleasant surprise to see who was break dancing that night though, and I’m ticked that we couldn’t find our camera battery charger so I could take flicks at the show! I was informally invited however to do another show in April in the U district for them, so I’m amped, and am currently making sure I have music for them ;) Chris stopped by just to say hey, and I appreciated that; we kicked it for a little bit afterward, and promised each other we’d hook up for a game night (cranium fool!).
Friday night was a lot of fun–wifey was out, and I took the kids to hang out with TJ and his kids, and Ak. Always fun for the kids, and always a pleasure to hang with TJ…He already has me reading this book, Blue Like Jazz (the author is speaking in the area shortly!) He passed along a book, “Simplicity”, by Mark Salomon (of Stavesacre), of which i’ve skimmed, and can’t wait to dig into. I may have to try to rip through this (when’s the last time i’ve ripped through a book!) before going back to “Blue Like Jazz” (and then they’re the Bobby Seale bio that Nally gave me…argh!)
I love all of y’all. Thanks for enjoying the weekend with us.
