<blockquote>However it is still in alpha release and so most folks, particularly those of us without the skills to be good alpha testers, are waiting for at least a beta version to be released.</blockquote>

And what about wp-gallery plugin with the support for G2 long urls?

I did install G2 and it really looks nice, but, afaik, themes API is still subjected to change :-)

Sincerely,
Gour

First off, thanks again for all of the effort on this.

Second, in as much in reference to other commentators, it's true Gallery 1.n is not particularly skin-able. It is almost completely table based. It is valid html, but clearly not best-practices-2005.

That's because Gallery is an old project. Or, perhaps a better term, a mature project. The ability to add skins is relatively recent, a retrofit to the existing architecture. Tables, those are what Gallery inherited from it's initial design.

That it is possible to skin Gallery 1.n is a testament to the robustness of the code and the diligence of the developers & the skinners. Indeed improved skin-ability has been an area of rapid development in the last few releases of Gallery 1.n.

However Gallery 2 is in alpha release and should be beta within a few weeks. That next-generation version of Gallery is much more modern in it's html generation, apparently very skin-able, has a plug-in architecture, etc.

If you're determined to do some sophisticated skinning that is where to look: Gallery 2. However most folks are holding off using it 'til it is, at least, in beta. So, for those of us running 1.n, for at least a while longer, thank you for your efforts so far.

If you do get terribly frustrated, instead of thinking forking or whatnot, please consider putting some effort in on the Gallery 2 side. That way when the rest of us move over we'll have your contributions ready and waiting for us, to much gratitude.

FWIW Kubrick still doesn't show up in my skins list. However when edited into config.php it does load. Also no chmod or anything required now.

I'm running a fresh install of kubrick-for-gallery-2.17.zip in /skins/kubrick/. There is no /skins/kubrick/embedded_style.css, and /skins/kubrick/standalone_style.css is 11785 Bytes.

The "My Gallery" block is on the left, indented about 15px. The "My Gallery" text is left-aligned. However the tabs are properly centered.

The body of the page is indented 20px on the left, 10px on the right. It completely overlaps the background block.

I hope this help.

thanks for checking it out!

make sure the file you got was:

kubrick-for-gallery-2.17.zip

and make sure the subdirectory doesn't have a skins/embedded_style.css in it anymore, but the standalone_style.css is a largeish (~15k file)

if not, then i either zipped, or you downloaded, an incorrect version....

thanks again, i'll check it out once again after work!

Hi jon!

No luck with the update :-(

Still, the same issues :-( i.e. the headerimg is shifted left, but there is 'supernav' stuff which is at the right position :-)

I re-installed gallery from the scratch checking out the latest code from CVS.

Sincerely,
Gour

ps. Oops...I did not look at the archive thinking that the 2 link lines, i.e.:
<blockquote>app->photoAlbumURL?>/skins/kubrick/css/embedded_style.css">

app->photoAlbumURL?>/skins/kubrick/css/standalone_style.css">
</blockquote>

were included in the latest update, so after discovering they were not and putting them on the place, the situation is much better, i.e. it requires some CSS fiddling to put everything in the right place :-)

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Gour
