good weekend in spokane
Good weekend. we headed to spokane to hang out with the other third of illect–Jae, meet his parents, and visit the church he’s a part of. It’s interesting, Spokane. It reminded me a bit of south bend, or maybe even manchester, NH. It was pretty industrial; not at all as I expected. Franks Diner was excellent, and hoplessly filling, and Jae’s mother was extremely hospitable, making me miss my own mother.
My mother’s an amazing woman. I still don’t fully get how she operates–she won’t let you go without cooking for you at some point during your stay, and always is looking out for you, first and foremost making sure your belly’s full. That’s really life though at its most basic…living, and being fed. I miss her greatly since we’ve moved out here. I hope to get to get back to Indianapolis as soon as I can to see her.
It’s easy to identify with Jae’s love for his mom (ha i hope i’m not telling on you!)–from what little I was able to get to know this weekend, anyone who hasn’t met my mother yet and doesn’t think she’s the best mom ever is quite insane. :D
On the way back, josh showed me the interesting sites along I-90. The gorge was ridiculous–I am a huge fan of roads and roadways, and It was so interesting to see the vestiges of our roadway system past. We’ll definitely be back there as a family trip.
I’m a tad peeved because I forgot to bring our Nikon on the trip. Next time…
Oh yes how can i forget–i also saw one of the funniest things i have seen in a Very Long Time–ATHF episode #4 — The Mooninites. Blessings to my korean friend for hipping me to such hilarity.
