dumb old 2.4Ghz wireless + phone

I should have researched this sooner, but for those who want to know–you don’t want to have a 2.4ghz wireless phone and 2.4ghz wireless router in the same area. they don’t like each other. soon as we’re talking on the phone, our wireless goes kaput. speaking of phone, we use vonage, and it sounds great, at the lowest setting.

i’m also running modified firmware to aid in VOIP bandwidth tweaking, but i haven’t gotten to that part of the software. i’ve bumped up the strength of the signal, however. it’d be nice to take my laptop to the playground while the chillens do their thing.

erg. off to get a 900mhz phone.

We use Vonage at home, too… have you tried broadcasting your wireless router on a different channel? Our wireless and our microwave used to duke it out occasionally, but not anymore…

i gave up. there are really promising channels, but it appears as if our widows doesn’t allow us to select them (it could be that the linksys software does, but i’m using windows to configure my wireless).

i gave up and got a set of 5.8 ghz phones. they were $30 on ebay, so it’s nice to have a new set of phones anyway.
