skin entire site?

argh i’m trying to figure out a way to include php code in all my templates here (comments page, archive pages), which means i’m looking for a way to have MT write out php files, which i haven’t just yet. when i do, the entire site will take on the css you choose above. speaking of which; i’ve added yet another css, css 3. select it above and see what’s up.

JN and PDF

PDF: Unfit for Human Consumption (Alertbox)

Given PDF’s poor usability for online reading, what are Web designers to do? My next Alertbox will discuss PDF presentation strategies that minimize user suffering.

i hope that he takes into account the latest acrobat reader, whose search functionality is excellent.

That’s about one of my only beefs w/ JN, is that he seems to be “old school”, which isn’t a bad thing (i sometimes look at him as the Warren Buffet of web usability), but he rips into Acrobats search facilities as if he doesn’t realize that Acrobat has a much improved search facility.

I agree, pdf isn’t a good format for navigating, but who uses it heavily in place of web pages anyway, the way he describes it?

css #2

peep the css #2 link above, to change the look of the front page. i’ll probably end up going for that look for the long term. i’ve gotten teased on the “girly look” of this one ;) i’m no dave shea (i’m a software developer not a designer!)…but i recognize the power of css. it’s been a while since the focus of a site designer’s time can be less on workarounds and more on design and layout.

argh so i’m a genius?

http://inmyexperience.com/archives/000417.shtml

another time i get punked, although maybe i had some help we can make this happen as well. over our vacation, i specifically started reading up on XML-RPC in relation to blogging, and in particular, in relation to how to use the Java XML-RPC API in my JaimBizzle software to enable a user to read and update a blog via IM. now i see that AOL’s trying this very thing. this is the second time i thought they’d been snooping on me, although i’m sure it’s just coincidence (or…is it?). Moments like these are always reassuring–i could go into details about some demoralizing events over the past few months but it’d probably break some kind of legal something or another. ;)

happy anniversary to me and joy

today is joy and my 5th wedding anniversary. yeah ironic that we marry on independence day (we’ve heard it enough ). depending on another however is underrated, and i suggest that others try it. :) God is good; i’m still as in love with my wife as i was when we first met (as if somehow i shouldn’t be) — i guess what has helped the most is that we’ve always been pretty “real” about how things went. It wasn’t a movie kind of romance, but it also wasn’t just nothing. Our union was something God put together, and has played out like that. I’m content.
