thanks to a few sources on the net concerning models of this ilk, i was able to gather how to get this bad boy working. I think i’m the first on the Net (that’s searchable at least) to deal with RH9 but i used people’s problems installing/running RH8 as a basis.

MSN Entertainment – News – Manilow Breaks His Nose
awww. here’s a major admission from a hard core hip hopper, that will forever minus me cool points–i really really dig barry manilow. i grew up listening to my moms records, sitting in front of the stereo after school for hours just listening to music–and barry manilow’s “Live” record and “One Voice” were always on tap! i remember being amazed at the fact that One Voice was recorded entirely just with barry singing it and noone else (“how’d they do that!”) and could probably rattle off the titles to all the songs on that album right now but i’ll spare you the details (but who could forget ‘Rain’ and ‘Two Ships’…!). that is all. best wishes to barry, and his nose.
just got back
just got back from the funeral home, to pick up the “creamains” of our baby jewel (they require a “disposal of the ‘fetus’” if the baby was miscarried 20 weeks or greater). i remember after talking to them two days ago even saying “i’ll be coming to pick up the remains” was heart-wrenching–after i got of the phone i just was drained, and sobbed. I kind of put it off, but i went ahead and did it a little bit ago. Death hurts, when you’re not the one to die. I was thinking “i’d go pick them up, then go to get something to eat”, and can’t even do that just yet…i feel blessed in the fact that she was spared some of the hardships of life here, but miss greatly the anticipation of the life that we would have shared, which i am blessed that i get to share with my two other children (which makes it easier to deal with the hurt). i so much try to innoculate the pain with other stuff, but it’s absolutely necessary to go through it, as opposed to around it, in order to remain whole.
i don’t know what i’m saying–all i know is that i’m sad. i know 100% that i’ll be “okay”, soon, but i’m sad right now, and am working through it, with my God.
So I’m not the only one–refreshing :)
Jeremy Zawodny’s blog: Knowledge Worker or Google Hound?
This is a great article. I think that (or would hope that) all of us are an amalgamation of both–that through our searching we’ve actually assimilated our findings into knowledge, but i have friends who always big up me on my skill for just finding nearly anything pertaining to the topic on-hand, on line. I’m generally the resident authority when it comes to looking something up, and find it a challenge when someone says “i looked for it on the web but i couldn’t find it”.
in his book, Agile Software Development, Alistair Cockburn spends some time in a section on Failure Modes, addressing specifically “Inventing Rather Than Researching” as a failure mode, and i’ve definitely noticed this pattern in many places, that people put such an emphasis on “originality”, that folks who know how to properly piece together different components are looked down upon. I definitely carry this stigma, coming from a hip hop background, where “biting” is anathema, but i’ve had to really realize that most of the time, there is a job to do, so however you do it (aside from violating intellectual property rights, as the book mentions) really shouldn’t matter (in many cases) as long as you get it done.
I think that last part about IP, however, is what has many folks scared to simply put together different components, or “borrow” work to achieve goals, though…we are definitely in an age where, like the old musicians who started cracking down on sampling, folks is broke, and need to find every avenue they can to make money, so you have folks (over?)scrutinizing work so that it doesn’t “infringe” on “IP”…
and now i begin to ramble, so i’m cutting it short (i am by no means a writer:).
don’t get it twisted
had a little nostalgia attack today–just wanted to show cats that i’ve been down with this “blogging” type thing from day one. :) i still run that same lame software actually (i wrote it in php) for my beats.com and djallstar websites. if i woulda thought a little harder when someone first asked me to set one up for them i coulda had a little something. such is life…movable type is much fresher than anything i could have thought of. :)
Nigerian Scizzam and their economic future
i first receved one of these letters about 3 or 4 years ago, when it was fairly new, and remember, almost being taken by it, because coincidentally, one of my brothers had been doing some research on our geneaology and had traced our roots in africa and sent info on it just a few days before–so hey, i’m a “dumb american”, and africa’s a big country (although the way i remember it, he did mention nigeria :)
i’ve seen dozens in my inbox sense, as well as variations. now, this article kinda seems to go off on a tangent (maybe the thoughts are related–i’m not up on nigerian current events), but it was the first few paragraphs that struck me–that a single scam could do so much damage to an entire country. the power of words, and perception (which i have learned from some past few months’
experiences), are incredible.
