The Wedding, and reception

The wedding was great–we opted to sit in the back, due to our girl’s little problems w/ her tummy, towel in lap…my son decided to test the acoustics of the church building so i had to step outside with him & chill why my friend was in there getting wed–at least i got to see her enter, in her dress! Who knew she could wear a dress!

The Reception was a load of fun! I always trip about how i’ll have a bad attitude about doing “wedding work” (even though i knew i’d be doing this one for a beloved one who enjoys Proper Music :); when i saw the “potential audience” at the wedding I became tad nervous.

Once i got there and dropped the first song though, i was “in the zone”, and had a grip of fun. Things to remember with a wedding crowd:

1) They’re fairly “captive”
2) They’re forgiving
3) They came to boogie anyway so they’ll get up at least once, many of ‘em :)
4) They appreciate any songs that they know, allowing me to slip in some “ill hip hop” between standards

I had to remember to leave most of the “tricks” at home, but still add some finesse when i could–you know stuff like mixing “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” with “Love Roller Coaster” oh so smoothly, or “Ice Ice Baby” & “Casper Slide” to move one segment of the crowd off the floor and get an entirely different one on the floor, hah. i ended the set with Tunnel Rats “TRz”, which noone there really knew, but given the atmosphere, the remaining folk still gave it a whirl.

    Crunk.

I love that word, and I do love getting down at weddings.

Well, they are one of the few places that I do "get down".

    Crunk.

The reception was bangin! It was so much fun. The only bad part is that my husband was the dj, and I didn't get to dance much with him:)
